Horror In Benin: 30-Year-Old Female Decorator Hacked To Death During Burial Job

Tragedy struck in Benin City, Edo State, after a 30-year-old decorator identified as Esohe Aigbe was brutally attacked and killed by suspected assailants while carrying out a decoration job for a burial ceremony.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred on May 27 along Ojo Street in the Ogida area of Benin City, leaving residents and sympathisers in deep shock.

According to reports, the deceased had gone to the area to assist a friend with decorating a venue ahead of a burial event when the tragic attack happened.

Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that Aigbe had already completed an inspection of the venue and remained at the location when unknown assailants allegedly descended on her with a machete.

“The deceased was attacked with a machete at the venue of the burial where she went to carry out decoration work. After attacking her, the perpetrators fled the scene immediately,” a source reportedly said.

Witnesses and concerned residents were said to have rushed to her rescue after the attack.

She was reportedly taken to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for emergency treatment, but sadly succumbed to the severe injuries inflicted on her.

According to eyewitness accounts, the machete wounds were extremely deep, leading to heavy blood loss before medical help could save her.

The gruesome killing has sparked outrage and fear among residents of the area, with many calling on security agencies to ensure justice is served.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the police were aware of the incident and had already made an arrest in connection with the case.

“I’m aware of a murder case in the area. We already have one suspect in our custody, and investigation is still ongoing as we speak,” she stated.

Authorities have yet to disclose the identity of the suspect or the possible motive behind the deadly attack.

Meanwhile, residents of the Ogida community have continued to express concern over rising incidents of violent crime in the area, urging security agencies to intensify efforts to protect lives and property.
