Natasha Osawaru Idibia, the Edo State lawmaker and wife of Nigerian music star 2Baba, has publicly expressed her ambition to become President of Nigeria, promising her grandfather, billionaire businessman Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, that she would achieve the feat during his lifetime.
Natasha made the declaration on Sunday, September 13, 2026, while speaking at a ceremony organised to celebrate Chief Igbinedion’s 92nd birthday.
During her speech, the Edo lawmaker described her grandfather, popularly known as the Esama of Benin Kingdom, as someone who continues to become “sweeter and better” with age.
She also spoke emotionally about their close relationship, saying the strength of their bond often moves her to tears.
Addressing the birthday celebrant directly, Natasha said she was determined to make him proud by reaching the highest political office in the country.
She said:
“I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you go.
“And I’ll make you very, very proud.”
Following the declaration, Natasha prayed for her grandfather to live to the age of 150 so that he could witness her political ambition become a reality.
Her remarks have generated attention, particularly against the backdrop of her growing political profile as a serving member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The birthday celebration brought together family members, friends, associates and other prominent personalities to honour Igbinedion, who marked another milestone in his life.
Natasha’s declaration also offers a glimpse into her long-term political aspirations, although she did not provide details on when or how she intends to pursue a presidential bid.
