Nsobemchukwu Johnmary Chukwumesiri, widely known as Ogbuefi I Go Tuk, hails from Alor, born into the family of the late Chief Collenius and Mrs. Josephine Onyemesili (Ichie Okua na Boundary 1 of Alor).
His early education began in Owerri at Madonna Nursery and Primary School. After his father’s passing, he moved to Onitsha and later Nnewi, where he lived with his mother. He completed his primary education at New Era Nursery and Primary School before proceeding to Christ the Way Secondary School.
Ogbuefi pursued a degree in Mass Communication at the University of Port Harcourt, overcoming financial struggles to successfully complete his studies.
Upon returning to Nnewi, he ventured into comedy, initially facing skepticism. However, his persistence paid off in 2018 when his viral “Main Market Man” skit, capturing the essence of Onitsha Main Market trade, catapulted him to fame and earned him a global fanbase.
Today, Ogbuefi I Go Tuk is a household name in the Nigerian comedy industry. He made history as the first Eastern-based comedian to host a show in Lagos at the prestigious EKO Hotel, through his annual event, Ogbuefi Live. He has also created opportunities for upcoming talents, shaping the comedy and entertainment scene in Nigeria.
A master of stand-up comedy, acting, and entertainment, he has received multiple accolades, including the Humour Awards for Best Stand-Up Comedian in Nigeria (2024). One of his most remarkable achievements was earning ₦11 million in just seven minutes during his performance at the AY Live Easter Sunday show.
