“President Tinubu Needs Medical Help”

"President Tinubu Needs Medical Help"

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has called on the Federal Government to disclose President Bola Tinubu’s health condition to Nigerians.

Sowore made the call while speaking with journalists, where he raised concerns about the President’s health and alleged that the Tinubu administration was concealing the severity of his condition from the public.

The human rights activist claimed that Tinubu appeared to be in poor health after arriving from Lagos and argued that the President should receive proper medical attention.

Sowore also compared the situation to what he described as previous instances where the health conditions of former Nigerian leaders, including the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Muhammadu Buhari, were allegedly concealed from Nigerians.

“As I said last time, something is eating this regime internally. Anybody who is lying to Nigerians, we have seen these lies and cover-ups before with Yar’Adua, with Buhari,” Sowore said.

He continued: “It is obvious. If you saw him, the way he alighted from the plane yesterday when he came from Lagos, that man needs medical help. And the earlier they give him help, the better.”

Sowore further criticised the government for allegedly allowing Tinubu to appear at public events despite what he described as concerns over the President’s health.

According to him, the government should provide Nigerians with clear information about the President’s condition instead of attempting to conceal it.

“I think two weeks ago when he was, and they rushed him down, I said, why are you rushing him down? You want to kill him? And then they took him to Lagos to go and be dancing, you know, just to prevent people from understanding the severity of his illness,” he alleged.

“They should disclose to us what is wrong with Tinubu and go and treat him properly.”

Sowore also dismissed suggestions that Vice President Kashim Shettima would necessarily be a better alternative, but noted that the Nigerian Constitution provides for the Vice President to assume presidential responsibilities under specified circumstances.

“Like you said, we don’t think that Kashim Shettima is better. But that’s what their constitution says,” he added.

Sowore’s comments come amid public discussions over President Tinubu’s health and calls for transparency concerning the health of Nigeria’s political leaders.

However, the allegations made by Sowore about the President’s health were not independently established in the statement, and no specific medical condition was identified.
