Residents of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State have reportedly resisted an attempt by individuals who arrived in Hilux vehicles to remove a billboard belonging to the New Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area.
A viral video circulating on social media shows residents confronting the individuals as they allegedly attempted to take down the billboard.
The development has since generated mixed reactions online, with social media users expressing different opinions about the incident and the political activities surrounding it.
One social media user suggested that the incident could attract more attention to the NDC, writing:
“All this is just making the ordinary citizens draw closer to NDC… give them more publicity. Tinubu, call your people to order, cos the cloud is gathering… all is fair in politics with result to serious breakdown of law. #SayNoToGbewudanicracy.”
Another user questioned the political history of Hon. Uyi Frank Omosigho, writing:
“Can I tell you something?
“The said Hon. Uyi Frank Omosigho has initially contested for the EDHA seat firstly under the PDP, then under the APC during the last election. Now he’s contesting for the HOR seat for the Oredo Federal Constituency under the NDC.
“If there’s one NDC Billboard/Poster I’d not frown against its removal, it’s his.”
A third user expressed concern about the upcoming election and the possibility of heightened political tensions, writing:
“Dis election is gonna be different from the previous ones, nobody is joking, I buy 57k fuel half tank. Everybody go turn thug for dis coming election mk una no worry.”
The incident has continued to generate debate online, with Nigerians sharing differing views on political billboards, campaign activities and the conduct of political supporters ahead of the elections.
