A teacher who lost his life during the recent attack on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Adesiyan Adegboye, is scheduled to be buried today in Ogbomoso.
Adegboye was among the victims killed when armed attackers invaded Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, last Friday morning.
According to details contained in the burial arrangements released in Ibadan on Thursday, the 49-year-old teacher will be laid to rest at his residence located in the Owolake area of Ogbomoso.
The late teacher, born on December 11, 1976, was reportedly attacked and killed during the invasion allegedly carried out by suspected bandits around 9:30 a.m.
The coordinated attack threw the affected communities into panic as several teachers and pupils were abducted during the incident.
Residents said the gunmen stormed the three schools simultaneously, creating confusion and fear among students, teachers and workers.
Following the deadly attack, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, visited the affected area on Saturday.
Additional detectives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja were subsequently deployed to support ongoing rescue operations aimed at securing the release of abducted teachers and pupils.
Security agencies were also directed to intensify efforts to ensure the safe return of all victims still in captivity.
The incident has continued to heighten fear and anxiety across Ogbomoso and neighbouring communities, with many residents expressing concern over growing insecurity and the possibility of further attacks.
