The Ibom General Assembly, an association of Akwa Ibom indigenes residing in Enugu State, has endorsed Comrade Chidiebere Aniagu, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate for Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The endorsement followed an interactive meeting between Aniagu and members of the association, who expressed excitement over what they described as an unprecedented visit by a candidate seeking election into the National Assembly.
During the engagement, members reportedly noted that Aniagu was the first House of Representatives aspirant from Enugu North and South to visit their association and directly seek interaction with them.
They commended the candidate for extending his political engagement beyond his immediate ethnic and geographical constituency, describing the gesture as a rare demonstration of inclusiveness and respect.
Aniagu, according to the statement, believes that effective leadership should transcend ethnic affiliations, state of origin and residential boundaries.
He reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, stressing the importance of building relationships across different communities and ensuring that every group feels recognised and represented in the political and developmental affairs of Enugu State.
The YPP candidate’s engagement-driven political approach has continued to attract attention, with the endorsement by the Ibom General Assembly adding to the growing recognition of his outreach efforts.
For members of the association, the visit represented more than a routine political engagement. They viewed it as a demonstration of leadership that prioritises human relationships, mutual respect and community inclusion beyond electoral considerations.
