The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother with a heavy rock in Sepeteri, located in Saki East Local Government Area of the state.
The tragic incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
Allegation of ‘Dream Shooting’ Sparks Violence
According to the police, the suspect reportedly accused his 52-year-old brother, Mustapha Amidu, of shooting him in a dream the previous night — an allegation that allegedly triggered the fatal attack.
The case was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters in Sepeteri by a resident identified as Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound.
Police said that acting on the belief that his brother had harmed him spiritually, the suspect allegedly approached the deceased while he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head, and immediately fled the scene.
Victim Confirmed Dead at Hospital
The injured victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital in Sepeteri for urgent medical treatment. However, he was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor.
Following the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited both the crime scene and the hospital to commence preliminary investigations.
Suspect Arrested, Case Transferred to SCID
The police confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and has reportedly confessed to the crime. He is currently cooperating with investigators.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.
The command assured residents that justice would be pursued diligently and in line with the law.
