Tension reportedly broke out within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State after a ward chairman was allegedly attacked by members of his own party during a disagreement over the distribution of money following a meeting.
The incident was said to have occurred in Ward 5 of Enugu South Local Government Area and later gained attention online after details were shared on X by a user identified as Chuks.
According to claims made by the chairman, the confrontation started shortly after the end of a party meeting where money was allegedly being shared among members. He alleged that the situation quickly turned violent after disagreements arose during the distribution process.
The chairman specifically accused the ward youth leader, the assistant organising secretary, and several other party members of physically assaulting him during the altercation.
A video that has since circulated on social media captured the visibly distressed chairman narrating his side of the story and accusing some party officials of beating him over issues connected to the sharing of the money.
The incident has triggered reactions online, with many social media users expressing concern over the growing trend of internal disputes and violence within political gatherings.
As of the time this report was filed, the exact amount of money allegedly shared at the meeting had not been confirmed. It also remained unclear whether the matter had been officially reported to law enforcement authorities or if any arrests had been made in connection with the alleged assault.
Efforts to obtain an official reaction from the leadership of the APC in Enugu State were unsuccessful, as party officials had yet to publicly comment on the incident.
